Former Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for Damongo, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has expressed his profound disappointment regarding the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) loss in the 2024 general elections.
Jinapor described the election outcome as both unforeseen and deeply disheartening.
He openly admitted that the scale of the defeat caught many within the party completely off guard.
“We did not win the 2024 election, and that was undoubtedly a very difficult moment, a long and challenging night. The truly significant aspect of the 2024 election results was their unexpected nature,” Jinapor stated.
“To be completely honest, if anyone had predicted before the election that we would end up with those kinds of results, I would have dismissed it as highly improbable,” he added.
He emphasized that the NPP must now come to terms with the clear verdict delivered by the Ghanaian electorate.
“As the saying goes, the voice of the people is the voice of God. The people have spoken, and they have spoken very loudly. We must accept this outcome and move forward,” Jinapor acknowledged.
The NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections resulted in the party losing both the presidency and its parliamentary majority, marking a significant shift in Ghana’s political landscape. This development is being closely followed by residents in Kumasi and across the Ashanti Region, a traditional stronghold of the NPP.
