Muntaka Calls for Prosecution of 2024 Election Offenders
Muntaka Pledges Support for Police in Addressing Election Violence and Operational Challenges

Interior Minister, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has urged the police to take action against those responsible for violence during the 2024 general elections, stressing the importance of using all available evidence to ensure accountability.
He commended the police for their professionalism, noting that for the first time, no shots were fired by the police throughout the election period. He pointed out that any disturbances came from other sources, not from law enforcement.
“I must commend the police administration once more. For the first time, no single shot was fired by the police during this election. All the skirmishes we encountered were caused by others, not the police. This highlights the professionalism of our police service,” Muntaka remarked.
The Minister emphasized his commitment to supporting the police in holding offenders accountable, particularly with the video evidence from the elections. “I will support you to ensure all those who misbehaved at polling stations are brought to justice,” he assured.
During a meeting with police officers in the Ashanti Region, Muntaka also acknowledged the challenges facing the police force, such as shortages in vehicles, accommodation, and medical facilities. While he admitted that immediate solutions may not be possible, he pledged his continued support, promising to work hard to resolve these issues.
“I may not be able to perform magic, but I assure you that I have your back, and I will do everything I can to address these challenges,” he stated.
