Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Running Mate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 presidential election, has reaffirmed his commitment to fostering unity within the party as it gears up for the national polls.
Speaking on the sidelines of an NPP meeting held on Wednesday, April 16, Dr. Prempeh—popularly known as NAPO—underscored the importance of internal cohesion to ensure electoral success.
“My immediate interest now is to get a united party for a flagbearer to be eventually crowned,” he stated, making it clear that his current focus is on strengthening the party’s base and supporting its presidential campaign.
Addressing speculation about a possible bid for the NPP’s flagbearership in 2028, Dr. Prempeh firmly put the rumours to rest:
“No, I am not running in 2028.”
His comments are being viewed as an effort to maintain focus on the 2024 campaign, avoid unnecessary distractions, and reinforce his role as a loyal team player in the NPP’s leadership.
