Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has expressed optimism about the ongoing peace efforts in Bawku, highlighting that mediation between the warring Kusasi and Mamprusi groups has led to a noticeable reduction in hostilities.
The revered king, who has been spearheading dialogue between the two factions, held a series of meetings from April 28 to April 30. Although talks are currently on pause, he affirmed that the peace process is far from over.
Speaking at the Manhyia Palace during a meeting with Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, on May 12, 2025, Otumfuo emphasized the need for continued engagement.
“We’re not done yet, but the efforts made so far have brought some calm to the area,” he said. “We’ll reconvene soon and update both you and the Ghanaian public.”
