Timilehin Ajayi, a gospel singer currently standing trial for the alleged murder of his reported girlfriend, 24-year-old NYSC member Salome Adaidu, drew quiet attention in court on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, as he engaged in a heartfelt prayer session during the hearing.
Ajayi appeared before the court in relation to a tragic incident that occurred on January 12 in New Karshi, located in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Salome, who was serving her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with Nicon Insurance in Abuja, had reportedly visited Ajayi at his home in the Papalana area. It was there that the unfortunate event unfolded, leading to serious allegations against him.
According to investigators, Ajayi was apprehended while allegedly attempting to dispose of Salome’s remains. During questioning, he is said to have admitted responsibility, citing relationship issues as a factor.
The courtroom fell into a heavy silence as Ajayi knelt and prayed intensely during the session, a moment that drew mixed reactions from observers—some interpreting it as a spiritual plea, others finding it difficult to reconcile with the nature of the case.
The trial remains ongoing, with no verdict yet delivered. Meanwhile, Salome’s family continues to seek justice for their daughter, who was remembered as kind, full of promise, and deeply loved.
