Chief Justice Torkonoo Demands Fair Hearing, Requests Petitions from Mahama

Calls for due process before any inquiry is initiated

Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo has officially written to former President John Dramani Mahama, requesting copies of petitions filed against her that call for her removal from office.

Her appeal follows Mahama’s submission of three petitions to the Council of State for advice, in line with constitutional procedures.

Emphasizing the need for due process, Justice Torkonoo urged that she be granted access to the petitions to prepare an appropriate response. She requested at least seven days to reply, ensuring her perspective is considered before any potential Committee of Inquiry is formed under Article 146(7) of the Constitution.
