Kantamanto Market Leadership Denies Misappropriation Claims After Fire

Market Leadership Vows Transparency Amid Allegations of Fund Mismanagement

The leadership of Kantamanto Market has rejected allegations of misappropriating donations from corporate bodies and individuals following the recent fire at the market.

The allegations were made by a group called the Concerned Market Members of Kantamanto Secondhand Clothing Sellers, who have called for the immediate resignation of the market’s 13-member leadership.

The group accuses the leaders of prioritizing personal interests over the market’s welfare, which they argue is endangering the future of the secondhand clothing trade.

In an interview with Channel One News on Friday, April 4, Market Manager Adutwum Atta Manu refuted the claims, asserting that all funds have been managed transparently.

“We will hold a meeting in two weeks to provide a detailed report on how the donated funds have been used,” he said, emphasizing that the funds were not in their direct possession but were being managed by one of the importers involved in the process.

Manu explained that a committee had been formed to oversee the handling of all donated funds and that a proper accounting would be provided during the upcoming meeting.

“The committee is responsible for the funds received, and we will share an update on the money spent and what remains. We’ve been working on the necessary forms and held a committee meeting on February 21 to discuss the usage of the donations,” he concluded.
