Ghana head coach Otto Addo has made history once again, becoming the first coach to lead Ghana to two FIFA World Cup tournaments, following successful qualifications in both 2022 and 2026.
Under his leadership, the Black Stars completed their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign undefeated, sealing their spot with a 1-0 victory over Comoros. Ghana is now one of nine African nations confirmed for next year’s tournament.

Notably, several of these teams will be led by former national team players, marking a rising trend of ex-internationals transitioning into successful coaching roles on the global stage.

Meanwhile, Belgium’s Hugo Broos (South Africa) and Bosnia’s Vladimir Petković (Algeria) are the only non-African coaches to lead African teams to the 2026 tournament.
The official draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled for December 5, as anticipation builds across the continent.
