New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful and former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, says he is “very satisfied” with the outcome of his vetting by the party’s vetting committee.
Speaking to the media after exiting the party’s headquarters in Accra on Monday, Dr. Bawumia expressed confidence in the process and hoped the committee shared his positive assessment.
“They asked many questions, and I answered all of them. I’m very satisfied with the vetting, and I hope the committee is as satisfied as I am,” he said.
The vetting, which commenced on September 23, forms part of the NPP’s internal preparations ahead of its presidential primaries for the 2028 general elections.
Dr. Bawumia is one of five aspirants being screened. The others include:
-
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Assin Central MP
-
Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Minister for Agriculture
-
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister for Education
-
Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, former NPP General Secretary
Aspirants Express Confidence
Earlier, Kennedy Agyapong also spoke to the press following his vetting, expressing optimism about his chances of securing the party’s flagbearer slot.
“I was prepared. I believe I answered all the questions, and they know I’m ready to be president of this country,” he said.
Mr. Agyapong noted that the vetting panel was keen to understand his vision for Ghana and his motivation for seeking the presidency.
As the NPP moves closer to selecting its next presidential candidate, the vetting process serves as a crucial step in determining who will lead the party into the 2028 polls.
