Two Arrested Over Viral TikTok Video Threatening President Mahama and First Lady

Police caution public against inciteful content as investigations continue into viral threat video.

The Ghana Police Service has arrested two individuals in connection with a viral TikTok video containing threats against President John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, the Police confirmed that the widely circulated video features threatening remarks targeted at the President and his wife, prompting swift action by security agencies.

The suspects, identified as Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu, are currently in custody and assisting police with ongoing investigations. Authorities are also pursuing additional suspects believed to be involved in the creation and dissemination of the video.

“So far, two people—Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu—are in Police custody assisting the ongoing investigation while efforts are underway to get other persons believed to be connected to the video to assist the investigation,” the statement read.

The Police assured the public of their commitment to protecting the safety of all citizens, including national leaders, and cautioned against making or sharing content that could incite violence or threaten public peace.

Investigations remain ongoing.
