Trump to Watch Chelsea Face PSG or Real Madrid in Club World Cup Final

FIFA opens Trump Tower office as ties with U.S. government deepen

U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed he will attend the FIFA Club World Cup final this Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The announcement comes just one day after FIFA revealed it has opened a new office in New York’s Trump Tower, a move aimed at strengthening ties with the U.S. ahead of two major international tournaments.

The United States is currently hosting the inaugural expanded edition of the Club World Cup and will co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico.

Sunday’s final will see Chelsea take on either Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid at MetLife Stadium — the same venue set to host the World Cup final next year.

Trump, who also attended the Super Bowl in February, leads a White House taskforce overseeing preparations for both the Club World Cup and the 2026 World Cup.

FIFA already operates an office in Miami, but the addition of a New York location — specifically within Trump Tower — signals an even closer working relationship with the current U.S. administration.

“We have received significant support from the government and from the president through the White House taskforce for both tournaments,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

“FIFA is a global organisation, and to be truly global, we must be local — and that means being present in key places like New York.”

Concerns Over Immigration Policies

Infantino also addressed concerns over the U.S.’s immigration stance under President Trump, which includes a travel ban affecting 12 countries and reports of potential expansion to include up to 36 more nations.

Despite this, Infantino sought to reassure fans, stating they would be welcomed to the United States for the tournaments.

President Trump has increased his visibility in the sports world during his second term. He became the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl, and in May, announced that Washington, D.C. will host the 2027 NFL Draft.

Trump has also been a regular attendee at UFC events, including a recent one in New Jersey, and has said the White House plans to host a UFC showcase next year.
