(VIDEO) Lawyer Adomako Baafi Commends John Mahama for GH₵25 Million DACF Disbursement

Former NPP Communications Director acknowledges Mahama administration's support for local governance

Former National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Yaw Adomako Baafi, has openly commended former President John Dramani Mahama and his administration for their proactive approach in disbursing GH₵25 million to District and Municipal Assemblies across the country under the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).

Speaking in an interview on Mabesh FM 92.7 with host Aduanaba Kofi Ampong Emmanuel, Lawyer Baafi praised the Mahama government for demonstrating commitment to grassroots development through the timely release of funds to the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

According to him, this move provided the needed financial support for local authorities to effectively carry out development projects in their respective jurisdictions.

He noted that although the NPP government had every opportunity and capability to execute a similar initiative, it failed to disburse the funds to the MMDCEs during its tenure. “The NPP could have done this. We had the means, but unfortunately, we did not take the necessary steps to get the money to the Assemblies,” he admitted.

Lawyer Baafi emphasized that decentralization and local governance thrive when central governments prioritize timely funding for local bodies.

He called for a non-partisan approach to development, urging current and future governments to learn from past administrations’ successes regardless of political affiliation.

His comments have sparked conversations across political circles, with many commending his candor and willingness to acknowledge achievements outside his own party.
