Parliament officially resumes sittings today, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, marking the commencement of the Second Meeting of the First Session of the 9th Parliament, following the Easter recess.
As legislators return, they dive into full parliamentary activities, including vigorous debates, committee meetings, and discussions on critical national matters.
A key highlight this session will be the anticipated appearance of the Minister for Finance in August to present the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament.
Second Deputy Majority Whip Richard Acheampong, in a recent interview, shared insights on the agenda ahead.
“The ministers will present their reports so we can review their progress over the last quarter and discuss future plans. We have a busy agenda this session, capped by the mid-year budget review in August,” Acheampong explained.
Meanwhile, ahead of today’s sitting, the Minority Caucus convened a strategic retreat over the weekend to assess its past performance and set priorities for the upcoming session.
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin reaffirmed the caucus’s dedication to robust parliamentary oversight and signaled readiness to take on leadership in the next political cycle.
“We are sending a clear message to our opponents — we will hold them accountable while maintaining responsible opposition. Ghanaians can be confident that we are prepared to lead come 2028,” he declared.
