Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has strongly condemned the brutal murder of Mohammed Seidu Akugri, the Bongo District Director of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), describing the act as both “gruesome” and “dastardly.”
In a statement issued following the incident, Ayariga expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, whom he referred to as a “comrade.” He urged the police and other relevant authorities to launch a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.
“This tragic loss demands a full investigation to provide the family with closure and to ensure that justice is served,” Ayariga stated.
He also commended the youth of Bawku for their restraint in the wake of the killing, acknowledging their continued commitment to peace amid ongoing tensions in the region.
Highlighting ongoing efforts to restore calm, Ayariga called on all parties to remain peaceful and support the mediation being led by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
“I urge all to remain calm and let us focus on the Asantehene’s efforts to find a lasting solution to the Bawku situation,” he added.
The murder has sparked renewed concerns over security in the region, as leaders continue to appeal for peace and unity.
