Man Arrested for Stabbing Pregnant Daughter

A tense confrontation over an unplanned pregnancy leads to a violent attack, leaving a daughter hospitalized.

A 45-year-old farmer, Kwabena Asiedu, has been taken into custody by the Bibiani District Police after an alleged altercation with his 18-year-old daughter, Susana Asiedu (also known as Maabena), over her pregnancy.

The incident took place in Sefwi Tanoso Praso, located within the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality in the Western North Region.

Susana, who is an apprentice hairdresser, shared that she was visiting a friend when her father confronted her about being five months pregnant while still in training. She confirmed her pregnancy, which led to a tense discussion between them.

According to Susana, the situation escalated when her father, in a moment of anger, allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and followed her into her friend’s room, where she was reportedly injured.

After the incident, Kwabena Asiedu left the scene. Susana, who lost consciousness, was quickly assisted by a local community member and rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital for treatment.

Isaac Kyei Asante, the Unit Committee Member for Sefwi Tanoso Praso, expressed concern over the incident, highlighting the worrying trend of domestic violence in the area.

The suspect has been apprehended and is currently in police custody, with investigations underway. Authorities have assured the public that appropriate legal action will be taken.
