Minister Muntaka Vows Legal Action Against Those Who Attack Firefighters

Minister Muntaka vows swift prosecution for those attacking firefighters, emphasizing the need for public respect and support for emergency responders

Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has issued a stern warning to the public against assaulting fire officers. Recently, fire service personnel have faced attacks due to complaints of delayed emergency responses.

During the inauguration of a new fire station in Gomoa Fetteh, Central Region, the minister made it clear that anyone found guilty of assaulting fire officers would face legal prosecution.

“We are committed to enhancing the safety of our Fire Service staff, in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service,” Muntaka stated. “Going forward, police will accompany firefighters to fire and rescue sites. Anyone attempting to harm them will be immediately arrested and prosecuted.”

In support of fire safety, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, urged the public to take proactive measures to prevent fire outbreaks. He emphasized that fire safety is a shared responsibility, highlighting the importance of community support, respect for fire officers, and a collective effort toward fire prevention and emergency readiness.
