Barcelona Sporting Director Deco has expressed confidence that rising star Lamine Yamal will sign a contract extension with the club, reinforcing his future as part of the team’s exciting young core.
Speaking to ESPN, Deco praised the 16-year-old winger, who is under contract until 2026 but is expected to extend his deal once he turns 18 in July.
“This generation of players has the chance to make history,” Deco said. “A player has to be happy where they are, but I can’t see a better place for Lamine to be.”
Yamal has enjoyed a breakthrough season, emerging as one of the most promising talents in world football. His standout performances have helped Barcelona clinch both the Spanish Supercopa and the Copa del Rey.
Deco added, “The boy grew up here; he’s from here. Putting myself in his shoes, I would want to be here, to be part of it.”
