One Suspect Arrested in Pregnant Goat Theft Case in Assin South

Suspect caught by residents after attempted escape; stolen livestock being held as evidence

A young man, believed to be around 21 years old, has been arrested in connection with a goat theft involving three individuals in Assin Okyiso, located in the Assin South District of the Central Region.

Community members apprehended the suspect in a nearby bush after his accomplices managed to flee with their getaway vehicle.

He is currently in custody at the Assin Darmang police station.

Authorities have recovered a Toyota Camry, registration number GE 7075-23—reportedly a rental from Cape Coast—used in the theft. The vehicle, along with eight goats (most of them pregnant), has been towed to the police station for further investigation.

Tragically, one of the pregnant goats has died. The remaining seven goats are being held as evidence alongside the suspect, as police continue their inquiries.

While a patrol officer confirmed details to Radio Fosu/Adom, the police have yet to release an official statement, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
