The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sharply criticized Sammy Gyamfi, Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, accusing him of living a life marked by excessive luxury and showy displays of wealth.
Their criticism comes in the wake of a viral video showing Gyamfi handing over U.S. dollar bills to controversial evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.
According to the NPP, this act highlights an alarming level of extravagance, particularly for a public official.
At a press briefing, NPP National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye alleged that Gyamfi routinely uses the U.S. dollar instead of the local currency—a practice the party views as deeply inappropriate given his official role.
“What many missed in that unfortunate video is that Gyamfi wasn’t just handing out foreign currency freely—he was also flaunting wealth only 120 days into office,” Boakye said.
He added that on the day the footage was taken, Gyamfi was chauffeured in a 2025 Range Rover Autobiography, a luxury SUV valued at $350,000.
Boakye further condemned the benefits and perks reportedly enjoyed by Gyamfi, calling them excessive and unethical.
He accused the Gold Board CEO of betraying public trust, especially given that his role is tied to efforts to stabilize Ghana’s currency while he personally favors the U.S. dollar.
