The NDC Constituency Chairman for Atwima Mponua, Haruna Salifu, popularly known as Chairman Kutu, has initiated legal proceedings against TikTok content creator Amaro Shakur over a viral video that he claims is defamatory.
This was confirmed in an interview on Mabesh FM’s Morning Show with Aduanaba Kofi Ampong. Chairman Kutu confirmed that the video in question falsely associates him with illegal mining activities (galamsey).
He believes the content was deliberately crafted to damage his reputation, particularly at a time when his wife is seeking appointment as District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Atwima Mponua District.
“This is not just a coincidence. It is clearly targeted and politically motivated,” he stated.
Chairman Kutu views the lawsuit as necessary to counter what he describes as a smear campaign tied to local political maneuvering.
The case raises broader concerns about the use of social media in local politics and the impact of online content on public perception and political ambitions.
The outcome of the legal battle could influence both his and his wife’s political future in the constituency, especially as the DCE selection process intensifies.
