Bawumia Appeals for Forgiveness, Promises Better Governance If Re-elected

“We’ve learned from our mistakes and are ready to do better,” NPP flagbearer tells Ghanaians during Thank You Tour

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has appealed to Ghanaians for forgiveness over the party’s past mistakes in government.

Addressing a crowd in Goaso during the NPP’s Thank You Tour on April 28, 2025, he promised that if given another opportunity, the party would deliver improved and more accountable leadership.

“We acknowledge our mistakes and sincerely ask for your forgiveness,” Dr. Bawumia said, adding that the NPP had taken valuable lessons from its time in office. “This tour is not just a celebration—it’s a moment of reflection,” he noted.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the party had listened to the concerns of the people and was committed to rebuilding trust and correcting its past missteps. He pointed to progress made in areas such as digitalisation, infrastructure, and economic stability, while admitting there were shortcomings that must be addressed.

“We will not make excuses. Instead, we pledge to correct our lapses and do even better,” he assured.

Calling for unity within the party and across the nation, the NPP flagbearer urged Ghanaians to believe in the party’s renewed vision. He described the upcoming 2024 election as a critical moment in Ghana’s democratic journey, calling on citizens to move forward together with shared purpose.

“We owe it to every Ghanaian to serve with humility, dedication, and a relentless commitment to progress,” he concluded.
