Nyinahini Chief Demands Prosecution of Soldiers Involved in Killing of Local Youth
Traditional leader calls for justice as community mourns 37-year-old victim shot over camouflage clothing

The Chief of Nyinahini, Nana Amanpene Boateng Twum II, is calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of military officers allegedly responsible for the shooting and killing of 37-year-old Kwame Lala in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking at a meeting with Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe and Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua, Seth Osei Akoto, the chief strongly condemned the actions of the soldiers involved, stating that the situation did not warrant the use of lethal force.
“Why should you shoot someone for wearing army camouflage? He even offered to remove the trousers after giving up the shirt. Then you shoot him? They must be arrested and made to face the law,” the chief said.
The incident reportedly occurred after a confrontation between a group of military personnel and some youth in Nyinahini, during which Lala was shot and killed. Four others were injured in the clash, which has sparked outrage in the community.
DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe confirmed that police have launched a full investigation and assured the public that those responsible will be held accountable.
“The investigation has commenced, and I assure you that the offenders will not go free,” he said, urging the community to remain calm and allow the legal process to take its course.
The family of the deceased, who left behind a wife and eight children, is demanding justice. Two of the injured individuals have since been discharged from the hospital and are recovering.
