A devastating traffic accident at New Ayaase in the Adansi-Fomena District on Tuesday afternoon, April 22, 2025, has tragically claimed the lives of eight people. The fatal collision involved a Sprinter van, a long bus, and a Toyota Corolla.
The incident occurred when the driver of a Sprinter bus, traveling from Kumasi towards Fosu, attempted a dangerous overtaking maneuver of a Toyota Corolla that was heading in the direction of Fomena.
During this risky overtaking attempt, the Sprinter collided head-on with a long bus that was approaching from Kumasi. The impact of this collision caused the Toyota Corolla to lose control and veer off the road.
The Assembly Member for the Fomena East Electoral Area, described the impact of the crash as extremely severe. He reported that the Sprinter van was split into two pieces, with one half flipping off the road.
Tragically, six victims died instantly at the scene of the accident, while an additional two individuals succumbed to their injuries after being transported to the hospital.
Assembly Member Adjei emphasized the urgent need for the construction of speed ramps in the New Ayaase area to deter reckless driving and prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future. The severity of this latest accident underscores the dangers of irresponsible road use and the potential life-saving impact of traffic calming measures.
