Dani Olmo Strike Seals Dominant Barcelona Win Over Mallorca
Olmo’s early second-half strike secures victory as Barcelona fire 40 shots in relentless display against Mallorca

Barcelona tightened their grip on the La Liga title race with a commanding 1-0 victory over Mallorca, thanks to a decisive second-half goal from Dani Olmo.
The Spanish midfielder found the net just 41 seconds after the restart, delivering a calm left-footed finish that finally broke the deadlock after a frustrating first half for the Catalan giants. Despite unleashing 24 shots before the break, Barca were repeatedly denied by Mallorca goalkeeper Leo Roman, who was in inspired form.
Roman, the standout performer for the visitors, pulled off a string of impressive saves, notably from Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres, to keep the score level. One remarkable sequence saw Roman and his defenders repel four Barcelona attempts in just 15 chaotic seconds inside the box.
While Mallorca had just 22% possession in the opening half, they still managed to threaten on the counter, breaching Barca’s high defensive line three times, only for the offside flag to intervene.
The home fans voiced their frustration with boos at halftime, but Olmo’s early second-half goal quickly lifted the mood inside the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick made seven changes to his starting XI, mindful of the upcoming Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid. He later brought on Raphinha and Fermin Lopez in search of a second goal, but Roman stood tall, ending the match with 11 saves.
Barca fired an astonishing 40 shots—more than any La Liga side has managed in a single game this season—while Mallorca failed to muster a single effort on target.
The win extends Barcelona’s lead at the top of La Liga to seven points, with second-placed Real Madrid set to face Getafe on Wednesday. Mallorca, meanwhile, remain seventh, narrowly ahead of Celta Vigo, who have a game in hand.
