In a strategic move to intensify the crackdown on illegal mining, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno has initiated a major reshuffle involving 34 police commanders across regions heavily affected by galamsey (illegal mining).
According to top police sources, this is just the first phase of a broader reorganisation aimed at injecting renewed energy and leadership into the national fight against illegal mining.
Key Reassignments
The reshuffle affects several commands in the Western, Ashanti, Eastern, Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Volta, and Central regions. Among the notable changes:

ACP Jonathan A. Lamptey (Gambaga) now heads the Takoradi Divisional Command.
