Minority in Parliament Rejects Attempted Intimidation by NIB – Afenyo-Markin

Minority Leader Denounces NIB’s Actions as Politically Motivated and Reaffirms Support for MP Fordjour

The Minority in Parliament has strongly condemned what they are calling an attempted intimidation of Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on the Interior and Defence Committee and Member of Parliament for Assin South, by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB).

This comes after the MP’s recent claims about two suspicious flights at Kotoka International Airport, which he alleged were involved in smuggling drugs and cash.

Speaking to the media following a failed attempt by the NIB to arrest the MP at his residence in Accra on Wednesday, April 9, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin expressed the caucus’s full support for their colleague and emphasized that they would not be intimidated.

Afenyo-Markin described the NIB’s actions as politically motivated, aimed at silencing opposition and dissent within Parliament.

“The Minority remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in investigating the serious allegations made by our colleague. We insist that due process must be followed,” he said.

He also urged the public to stay vigilant and support efforts to uphold justice and fairness in the face of what he termed political intimidation.
