Akosua Manu Accuses Kwakye Ofosu of “Barefaced Lies” Over Suspicious Flights, Doubts Probe

Manu Accuses Government of Deception Over Suspicious Flights Investigation

Former Deputy CEO of the National Youth Authority, Akosua Manu, has questioned the credibility of President John Mahama’s investigation into alleged drug trafficking and money laundering at Kotoka International Airport, following claims of suspicious flights.

Manu expressed skepticism about the impartiality of the probe, initiated after allegations by MP John Ntim Fordjour.

She argued that the investigation’s credibility has been compromised by government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who released what she deemed “questionable” videos to justify the aircraft’s extended stay.

Manu asserted that Kwakye Ofosu’s explanations lacked credibility and contradicted known facts about the aircraft involved, including an AirMed jet. “The bottom line of this is, I don’t even trust the probe that the President is asking for. Because his spokesperson has already implicated the matter… because the sequence of events shows there was a deliberate attempt to lie to the public,” she stated.

Manu specifically accused Kwakye Ofosu of “barefaced lies” regarding maintenance, the aircraft itself, the maintenance schedule, and its route. She questioned the basis of his information.

While President Mahama ordered an investigation on April 1st, following Fordjour’s press conference, Kwakye Ofosu stated on Facebook on April 6th that the aircraft landed due to damaged landing gear tires and that engineers were flown in for repairs, explaining the three-day stay.

Citing inconsistencies and alleged attempts to mislead the public, Manu called for an independent, bipartisan investigation into the matter. “I am calling for a bipartisan committee to look into the matter,” she urged.
