England Forward Michelle Agyemang Suffers Suspected Knee Injury in Win Over Australia

She was replaced by Chloe Kelly and later seen leaving the stadium on crutches.

England manager Sarina Wiegman says she is “not very positive” about the condition of Michelle Agyemang, after the young forward was stretchered off with a suspected knee injury during England’s 3-0 victory over Australia at Pride Park.

The 19-year-old, currently on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, collapsed off the ball just 13 minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute. She was replaced by Chloe Kelly and later seen leaving the stadium on crutches.

Speaking after the match in Derby, Wiegman admitted that details were still unclear but expressed concern over the severity of the injury.

“It was an awful moment — it doesn’t look good,” she said. “We don’t know the full extent yet, but I’m not very positive about what I’ve seen.”

Former Arsenal and Scotland defender Jen Beattie said Wiegman’s reaction suggested the injury could be serious.

“Sarina’s comments said a lot — managers usually get an early update from the medical team, and her demeanour spoke volumes,” Beattie told BBC Radio 5 Live. “I just hope Michelle is OK.”

Agyemang played a key role in England’s Euro 2025 triumph, scoring crucial goals off the bench in the quarter-final against Sweden and the semi-final against Italy. Her performances earned her a nomination for the Kopa Trophy, awarded to the world’s best under-21 female footballer.

She has started in five of Brighton’s six Women’s Super League matches this season and has been widely regarded as one of England’s brightest young talents.
