
A 49-year-old fisherman from Mumford in the Central Region has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment with hard labour after pleading guilty to defiling a 13-year-old girl.
The convict, Samuel Armah, popularly known as Kofi Nyan, was sentenced by Her Honour Nana Aba Quiba Nunoo at the Cape Coast Circuit Court Two on October 28, 2025. He was immediately transferred to Ankaful Prison to begin serving his sentence.
The case drew widespread public attention after it went viral on social media, prompting calls for swift justice.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on October 16, 2025. Investigations revealed that Armah lured the victim into a secluded ghetto in Mumford, where he sexually assaulted her.
A formal complaint was lodged with the Apam District Police Command the following day, leading to his swift arrest and prosecution.
