Nottingham Forest in “Advanced Talks” to Appoint Sean Dyche

Postecoglou was dismissed just 17 minutes after Forest's damaging 3-0 defeat by Chelsea

Nottingham Forest is reportedly in advanced discussions to make Sean Dyche their next manager. Following the swift sacking of Ange Postecoglou on Saturday, Dyche has emerged as the clear frontrunner, with the Premier League club aiming to finalize a deal today, Monday, October 20, 2025.

Postecoglou was dismissed just 17 minutes after Forest’s damaging 3-0 defeat by Chelsea, a result that leaves the club languishing in 18th place after a difficult start to the season with only one win in eight league games.

Dyche’s prospects of taking the helm at the City Ground have significantly improved over the weekend, according to sources close to the appointment, following positive talks held over the last 24 hours.

While former Italy and Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has also held discussions with Forest officials, and Fulham manager Marco Silva is admired, both appear to be less likely options.

Silva’s current contract, which includes a substantial release clause, is proving to be a hurdle, especially since Forest has already incurred costs this season by sacking both Postecoglou and Nuno Espirito Santo. Furthermore, there are questions about whether Silva would even consider leaving Fulham mid-season.

Sources now indicate that Dyche is the standalone candidate, with the difficulties surrounding Silva and the cooling of initial interest in Mancini clearing the path for the former Burnley manager.
