Prestea: Two Alleged Soldiers, Civilians Arrested in Attempted Robbery at Mining Site

Police in Prestea, located in Ghana’s Western Region, have arrested two suspected military officers and their two civilian accomplices following a failed robbery attempt at LongShine Mining Company Limited, a Chinese-owned mining firm.

The attempted heist occurred on Sunday, September 28, at the company’s site in Prestea-Obouhu.

The Public Relations Officer for LongShine Mining, confirmed that the suspects arrived at the site in a pickup truck, with the two alleged military personnel dressed in uniform and the civilians masked.

“We immediately contacted the Prestea Police when we noticed the intrusion, and they responded swiftly to apprehend the suspects,” Rootman said.

The four suspects have since been transferred to the Tarkwa Regional Police Command for further investigation.
