Kwabena Agyepong Urges Unity and Economic Renewal

NPP flagbearer hopeful says entrenched division has stalled Ghana’s progress, calls for unity, fiscal discipline, and accountable leadership

Former NPP General Secretary Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong has called for national unity and economic reform, warning that decades of political division and weak governance have stalled the country’s progress since independence.

Speaking at the filing of his nomination forms, Agyepong said the country’s democracy has yet to deliver prosperity. “Our much-touted democracy has not yielded the expected economic dividends,” he declared, lamenting that millions remain excluded from progress.

He pointed to growing frustration among citizens, especially the youth, who he said are disillusioned by partisan politics and failed leadership. Agyepong urged an end to entrenched polarization, calling unity “an urgent necessity” for rebuilding the economy.

His proposals include enforcing fiscal discipline, investing in job-creating sectors, and strengthening accountability to restore trust in leadership.

“Ghana must heal. Our leaders must be held to account—not only for their policies but also for the sincerity with which they lead,” he said
