
President John Dramani Mahama will depart Ghana on Sunday, August 17, for an official visit to Japan and Singapore, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and attract foreign investment into Ghana.
In Japan, President Mahama will attend the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX), where he is scheduled to speak during a plenary session on trade and investment.
He will also headline the Ghana Presidential Investment Forum, where he will outline opportunities under his administration’s Resetting Ghana agenda.
While in Tokyo, the President will hold high-level meetings with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and senior executives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO). Discussions will focus on deepening cooperation in infrastructure, trade, and technical support.
Following his engagements in Japan, President Mahama will continue to Singapore for a three-day state visit. He is expected to meet with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
While in Singapore, the President will participate in the Africa-Singapore Business Forum, and deliver an address at an investment-focused forum aimed at showcasing Ghana’s reform agenda and attracting Singaporean investment.
According to a statement from the Presidency, the visits are part of Ghana’s broader strategy to foster partnerships in technology, finance, infrastructure, and human capital development, as well as to expand market access for Ghanaian products.
President Mahama and his delegation are expected to return to Ghana upon completion of the official engagements in Singapore.
