According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, U.S. President Donald Trump is considering reclassifying marijuana to a less dangerous category.
The newspaper cited sources familiar with the matter who said that Trump mentioned his interest in the change at a recent fundraiser.
The fundraiser, which took place at Trump’s New Jersey golf club and cost attendees $1 million per plate, was attended by several notable guests, including Kim Rivers, the CEO of Trulieve, one of the country’s largest marijuana companies.
Rivers reportedly encouraged Trump to make the change and to expand research into medical marijuana.
