Former Arsenal and Ghana international midfielder, Thomas Partey, has been granted conditional bail after appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court to face multiple serious allegations. The 32-year-old, who recently left Arsenal after his contract expired, has been formally charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
The charges relate to alleged incidents involving three different women between 2021 and 2022, during his time with the North London club. According to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Partey faces two rape charges involving one woman, three with another, and a single count of sexual assault with a third.
Court reports indicate that Partey stood silently in the dock, and his bail conditions prohibit any contact with the complainants and require him to inform authorities of any address changes or plans to travel abroad. Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring noted that Partey is no longer employed in the UK and appears to be finalizing a deal with Spanish La Liga club Villarreal.
Partey’s legal counsel, Jenny Wiltshire, stated that her client firmly denies all the charges and is eager to clear his name in court. The case has been adjourned and is scheduled to continue at the Old Bailey on September 2, 2025.
