Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has officially declared his intention to contest in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2026 presidential primaries.
The announcement was confirmed on Tuesday, August 5, through a Facebook post by his campaign spokesperson, Kwasi Kwarteng, who wrote:
“Official Update: Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong has officially picked nomination forms to contest in the 2026 NPP Flagbearership race.”
Agyapong’s decision marks a renewed bid for the party’s leadership, following his spirited campaign in the 2024 primaries. His return signals continued commitment to his political ideals and vision for Ghana.
Renowned for his outspokenness and no-nonsense approach, Agyapong is expected to center his 2026 campaign on three key pillars: discipline, patriotism, and economic transformation.
The Assin Central firebrand has long advocated for reforms aimed at promoting national pride, fiscal responsibility, and improved governance. As the race for the NPP flagbearership begins to take shape, Agyapong’s entry adds significant momentum and anticipation within party circles.
