Three individuals have tragically lost their lives in a fiery motorbike collision at Manso Watreso in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on Monday when two speeding motorbikes—one carrying two passengers and the other a solo rider—collided head-on. The impact caused both motorbikes to burst into flames, igniting a blaze that quickly engulfed the victims.
Bystanders attempted to rescue the riders and extinguish the flames, but their efforts proved unsuccessful. Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and the police later arrived at the scene and managed to douse the fire.
Kofi Mensah, Assembly Member for the Manso Watreso Electoral Area, confirmed that one victim died instantly. The other two, who were rushed to a nearby hospital, succumbed to their injuries shortly after.
Preliminary investigations suggest that one of the motorbikes was transporting fuel, which likely triggered the explosion upon collision.
The charred remains of the victims have been deposited at the St. Martin’s Hospital morgue in Agroyesum. Police are yet to officially identify the deceased, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
