Kusasi Chief Shot Dead by Unknown Gunmen in Asawase

The chief was enskinned as Kadi Naaba just three months

The Kusasi Chief of the Ashanti Region, Abdul-Malik Azenbe, was tragically shot and killed by unknown gunmen at his residence in Asawase on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

According to eyewitnesses, two armed men on a motorbike arrived at the chief’s home near the Asawase F-Line Community Centre around 8:40 p.m.

One of the attackers, wielding an AK-47 rifle, opened fire on Chief Azenbe before fleeing the scene.

The chief, who was enskinned as Kadi Naaba just three months prior, was rushed to Manhyia District Hospital and later transferred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, visited the bereaved family and assured them of a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.

In response to the incident, the police have heightened security in the area and are urging the public to provide any information that could assist in the arrest of the suspects.

The Kusasi community is devastated by the brazen attack, with widespread calls for swift action to ensure peace and justice. The police are working diligently to identify and apprehend the suspects, and the investigation is ongoing.
