Highly-rated Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera is en route to Singapore to link up with Arsenal’s pre-season squad as the Gunners edge closer to finalizing his transfer.
The 21-year-old Spain Under-21 international has received permission from Valencia to join Arsenal’s tour, with personal terms already agreed between the player and the Premier League side.
Mosquera, regarded as one of Europe’s top young defensive talents, is expected to provide depth and competition in central defence alongside William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães. He is also capable of playing at right-back, making him a versatile option for Mikel Arteta’s side.
His arrival will help fill the void left by Takehiro Tomiyasu, who recently parted ways with the club after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract.
Mosquera featured prominently for Valencia last season, making 90 appearances overall for the club and completing 37 of 38 La Liga matches in full.
Arsenal are set to face AC Milan in Singapore’s National Stadium on Wednesday, followed by a clash with Newcastle United at the same venue on Sunday. The squad will then travel to Hong Kong for a highly anticipated match against Tottenham Hotspur before returning to London to conclude their pre-season preparations.
