Fix Ejisu’s Bad Roads Urgently – MP Kwabena Boateng Appeals to Roads Minister

MP Raises Alarm Over Abandoned Projects, Rising Robberies, and Economic Hardship in Ejisu Due to Poor Roads

Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Hon. Kwabena Boateng, has made a passionate appeal to the Ministry of Roads and Highways to urgently address the deteriorating road conditions in the Ejisu Municipality.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Monday, Hon. Boateng highlighted the abandonment of several key road projects in communities such as Akokoabon, Achiase, and Kokoobra. According to him, construction work that began last year has stalled, with contractors vacating sites and removing their machinery.

“Mr. Speaker, I rise to appeal to the government, through the Ministry of Roads and Highways, to urgently address the poor road network in my constituency. The people are suffering from thick dust and difficult commutes, which are affecting their health and daily routines,” the MP stated.

Security and Economic Concerns

Hon. Boateng warned that the deplorable road conditions are contributing to increased criminal activity. He noted that slow-moving vehicles on bad roads have become easy targets for armed robbers, especially at night.

“It is deeply troubling that robberies are occurring because of the state of our roads. Drivers are forced to reduce their speed, making them vulnerable to attacks. Many have also abandoned using the roads entirely due to frequent vehicle breakdowns caused by the poor conditions,” he lamented.

Recent Demonstration and Public Outcry

The MP referenced a recent demonstration held by the Concerned Drivers Association of Ejisu on July 7, 2025. During the protest, drivers voiced their frustration over the high cost of vehicle repairs and constant mechanical breakdowns resulting from the damaged roads.

“In their petition to me and the MCE, the drivers made it clear they can no longer bear the financial burden of spare parts and repairs. The road conditions are wearing down their vehicles and draining their livelihoods,” Hon. Boateng emphasized.

Call for Immediate Government Action

Hon. Boateng called on the government to treat the situation in Ejisu as a matter of urgency, stressing that fixing the roads would not only improve transportation but also restore public confidence, protect lives, and support economic activity in the area.

“Addressing this issue swiftly will bring much-needed relief to the people of Ejisu and secure their livelihoods. We cannot allow these roads to continue causing such hardship,” he concluded.
