The Atwima Mponua District Assembly has confirmed Mr. Ishaq Ibrahim as the new District Chief Executive, following his nomination by the President.
With 39 “yes” votes, representing 71%, and 16 “no” votes, Mr. Ibrahim’s confirmation marks a significant step in the district’s governance.
In the lead-up to the confirmation, key stakeholders, including Ohenebe Kwame Akoto, Chief of Nkawie-Kuma, and Hon. Justice Nkrumah Boateng, Presiding Member of the Assembly, urged members to support Mr. Ibrahim’s nomination.
They emphasized the need for unity to drive development in the district. Hon. Seth Osei Akoto, Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua, also rallied behind Mr. Ibrahim, encouraging members to confirm him to accelerate progress.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Ibrahim expressed gratitude to the President for the nomination and pledged to work towards realizing the President’s vision for the district.
Familiar with the district’s challenges, including water shortages, poor road conditions, inadequate teacher accommodations, and teacher shortages, Mr. Ibrahim promised to collaborate with the MP, Assembly members, and stakeholders to improve living standards for the marginalized.
This development comes against the backdrop of previous delays in appointing a substantive DCE for the district, which had hindered effective governance and development.
In recent months, Assembly members had petitioned the President to nominate a candidate, with some advocating for Sakina Oforiwaa, citing her leadership experience and community ties.
