The High Court in Amasaman has rejected an application for bail filed on behalf of Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, as she awaits the outcome of her appeal against a recent conviction.
Speaking after the ruling on Tuesday, July 15, her lawyer, Dr. Bernard Kofi Asamoah, confirmed the decision.
“We applied for bail pending appeal, but the court did not grant it. However, it has directed the Circuit Court to submit all documents relevant to the appeal process. We will continue pursuing the matter,” he stated.
This decision comes as Nana Agradaa’s legal team continues efforts to challenge her 15-year prison sentence, handed down on July 3 by the Circuit Court.
The court, presided over by Justice Evelyn Asamoah, convicted her on charges of defrauding by false pretence and engaging in charlatanic advertisement.
A formal notice of appeal was filed on July 7, led by defense counsel Richard Asare Baffour, who argues that the trial was procedurally unfair and the judgment flawed.
While the request for bail has been denied, Nana Agradaa’s legal team has reaffirmed its determination to pursue the appeal and seek justice through all legal channels.
