Former National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Yaw Adomako Baafi, has sharply criticized the performance of former President John Dramani Mahama during the first six months of his administration, describing it as deeply disappointing and harmful to national progress.
Speaking on Mabesh FM’s morning show with host Aduanaba Kofi Ampong Emmanuel, Lawyer Baafi accused the Mahama-led government of failing to deliver on its promises and instead plunging the country into a series of worsening crises.
“In just six months, the administration was already plagued by major problems—rampant drug issues, worsening ‘dumsor’ (persistent power outages), and the uncontrolled rise of illegal mining activities, known as ‘galamsey’,” he stated. “It was a clear sign that the government was off track from the start.”
Baafi went on to allege that the Mahama government had “scammed” Ghanaians by failing to provide the transformation and stability it promised. According to him, the same troubling patterns from Mahama’s previous time in office—such as issues surrounding narcotics, energy instability, and environmental degradation—persisted without improvement.
“He has not changed. The same problems we saw in his previous administration—cocaine controversies, energy crisis, galamsey—are still present. Nothing has improved,” Baafi argued.
His comments reflect a broader criticism from sections of the political opposition, who have accused the Mahama administration of lacking the political will to combat corruption, enforce the rule of law, and implement lasting solutions to Ghana’s energy and environmental challenges.
Baafi concluded by calling on Ghanaians to demand greater accountability and not be swayed by political rhetoric, especially when past governance records point to consistent failure.
