
Takoradi residents and business owners are grappling with the severe aftermath of a heavy downpour on Saturday, which caused extensive flooding across several areas of the city.
Among the hardest-hit locations were the SDA Hospital vicinity and the bustling Takoradi Market Circle.
Floodwaters surged through homes, streets, and commercial establishments, leaving behind a trail of destruction. Numerous shops were inundated, leading to the ruin of goods valued at thousands of cedis.
At the Market Circle, frustrated traders returned to discover their shops submerged and their merchandise destroyed.
Many voiced long-standing concerns regarding the area’s inadequate drainage systems, holding them responsible for the persistent flooding that disrupts livelihoods with every rainy season.
