“100% Confident”: Christopher Bonsu Baah Backs Ghana for 2026 World Cup Qualification

Christopher Bonsu Baah, the 20-year-old Genk forward, has rapidly emerged as a prominent figure in Ghanaian football, captivating fans with his impressive performances at last month’s Unity Cup in London.

His impactful senior debut against Nigeria and thrilling attacking displays in the subsequent match against Trinidad and Tobago have ignited optimism about his potential influence on Ghana’s quest for a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

With the Black Stars currently leading their qualifying group on 15 points with four matches left to play, Bonsu Baah exudes unwavering confidence in the team’s ability to secure their ticket to the tournament co-hosted by Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

“I think it will not mean a lot to only me, for my family and for the nation—everyone—because Ghana qualifying to the World Cup is something big for the nation,” Baah told Joy Sports. “Not only us but every country, when you hear or when you see like you are in the World Cup, it is something big for everyone, so I think it will mean a lot for us.”

Bonsu Baah articulated a collective belief within the squad: “We are 100% confident that we are going to qualify. For me, I think it’s every player’s dream to be part of the national team squad to the World Cup.”

However, he also emphasized the importance of a focused approach: “But as I said, when you focus on those things, you cannot perform; you just have to trust the process one after the other. Now I go to my club and I focus on my club and I give all to my club, and we will see what will come next.”
