
In a decisive move against illegal mining, the Special Police Anti-Galamsey Taskforce from the National Police Headquarters has apprehended seventeen (17) individuals linked to galamsey activities in Samreboi, located in Ghana’s Western Region.
The arrests, carried out on May 25, 2025, include seven (7) Chinese nationals and ten (10) Ghanaians. The suspects have since been transferred to Accra to aid ongoing investigations.
This operation forms part of intensified efforts to curb environmental degradation and restore forest reserves in affected communities.
The task force continues to expand its operations, aiming to identify more individuals involved and safeguard protected lands.
The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting nationwide initiatives to eliminate illegal mining and preserve natural resources.
