
Minister of Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa expressed deep honor after meeting Pope Leo XIV during the Pontiff’s inauguration Mass at Saint Peter’s Square in Rome, Italy, on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
Ablakwa, who was representing President John Dramani Mahama, described the encounter as a significant moment in his life.
He shared his gratitude on social media, saying the blessings he received from Pope Leo XIV would elevate his journey. As the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Ablakwa conveyed his heartfelt thanks for the warm reception and the Pope’s prayers, which he believes will bring positive transformation.
The event was attended by several global leaders, including U.S. Vice President JD Vance, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and others, all of whom were blessed by the Pope in a brief interaction.
