President John Mahama has shared heartfelt memories about his enduring friendship with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, tracing their connection all the way back to their childhood days in Ringway Estates, Osu, Accra.
During a courtesy visit by the Asantehene to the Jubilee House on Monday, Mahama fondly recalled growing up directly across from the home of Nana Aduhene, where Otumfuo also spent time during school holidays.
“Our friendship started when we were kids. I lived in Ringway Estates, and my family’s home was right opposite Nana Aduhene’s place. Nana Aduhene’s children—Kojo Botsuo, Kwame Nkrumah, and others—were part of our circle,” Mahama shared.
He added that notable figures like Ato Ahwoi and Kwame Ahwoi were also often around, contributing to the lively community atmosphere.
Mahama further revealed, “One of Nana Aduhene’s children, whom we called ‘Kweku Kweku’, used to come for holidays—it turned out that he was Otumfuo himself.”
