
A team of National Security officers who surrounded the home of Bernard Antwi Boasiako—better known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Paraku Estate this morning have pulled back following a tense face-off with his supporters.
The operation started early Friday with police and National Security agents arriving at Wontumi’s residence to carry out a search warrant.
Although Mabesh TVthe warrant’s existence, the exact reason for the raid remains unclear.
Rumors had circulated that Chairman Wontumi was under house arrest, but his location during the incident was not confirmed.
The heavy presence of security personnel quickly attracted a large crowd of Wontumi’s supporters and senior NPP officials from the Ashanti Region, escalating tensions on site.
The standoff eventually intensified into a heated confrontation, forcing the security team to withdraw from the premises.
