Black Stars head coach Otto Addo views the 2025 Unity Cup as a golden opportunity to evaluate fresh faces in the national team setup.
Set to take place this week in London, the four-nation tournament will see Ghana square off against long-time rivals Nigeria in their opening match.
The winner of that encounter will advance to face either Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago in the final.
Ghana’s 23-man roster features several new names, with key players like Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo, and Inaki Williams all missing from the squad.
In a press briefing ahead of the tournament, Addo underlined the significance of the Unity Cup as a platform to test emerging talents in preparation for crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali later this year.
“This tournament gives us a great platform to evaluate who’s ready for the next level,” Addo stated. “With some questions still surrounding certain players, it’s the perfect moment to let younger talents step up and show what they can offer. We hope to come away with a clearer picture by the end of the competition.”
Ghana will kick off their campaign against Nigeria on Wednesday, May 28, at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium.
